Designing something new

2021, Sep 20

This week I worked on drawing some sketches for a prototype of my menstrual care device/app combo MEtri, derived from the word endometrium, the tissue that lines the uterus. The device is comprised of a heating pad element which is wirelessly connected to a wristband that is able to be pressed to adjust the heating pad’s function. The app tracks the user’s usage of the heating pad, at what times they have used it, and at what temperature, and prompts them to add more data about those usages for their own health tracking metrics. Below is a sketch outlining what the device would look like, with indications of what each component does.

Below is a rudimentary sketch of the app’s user interface, showing a “Records” screen, depicting a graph of the month of September and the user’s usage data for that month, and a “Today” section, which asks the user what they would like to add about the times they have used the heating pad during that day.
